My Experience With Programming and Coding
(UPDATE IN DEVELOPMENT)
My Introduction to Programming and Coding
I was introduced to video games at the age of three and have wanted to make games of my own ever since. It's not just video games either, I'm really fond of technology in general and I find how they work to be very interesting.
How I Started to Learn About Programming and Coding
At an early age, I learned about how video games worked and really got into learning about them during the sixth grade. During that time, my education in coding began with me figuring out how basic Lua worked, a programming language that I'm still not fluent in, but definitely want to learn. There was a fan game that was coded in Lua and allowed for a lot of customization, enough to essentially create your own game. If I wanted more options for customization, then I would need to learn at least a little bit of Lua. In my case, it was a very small amount and only enough to really teach me about terms like variables, booleans, etc., but it was a start and one that gave me a headstart on other coding languages.
My Programming and Coding Experience in High School
During my freshman year in high school, I took a programming and web design class. For the first two years, this class was primarily focused on web design, which involves HTML and CSS. By the time my class got to its junior year, we were considered professional web designers, and the focus was shifted towards JavaScript, a language that primarily works with web design but could also be used for other types of projects. During that year, we also went over a little bit of Java and how to database.
My Programming and Coding Skills Now
At the moment, I have a lot of experience in web development as well as programming in Unity. I'm currently studying C++ and engine creation on my own. When I'm ready to do so, I'll make games that everyone including myself can enjoy.
